We did it!!!
How great it was to finally see this shoot come together. What was months in the making, all magically came together today, making all the blood, sweat and tears all completely worth it!
I was first approached by fellow MUA Lisa Choi to jump on board with her to help out photographer Bambi Gosbell. Bambi was wanting to do a mermaid shoot that's final images would be entered into a photography competition later in the year.
We lined up our go to models and started planning the costumes.
For the tails; we didnt want to just do the cheap looking lycra tail, we didnt have a budget to do sculpted silicone tails, so we decided to go for individually cut vinyl scales. This glitter/metallic fabric not only looked amazing in the light but was also waterproof. Although it meant the tails would be very heavy and made for very limited movement, we figured they would be fine for the shot as once models were positioned they didnt really need to move.
Months later the costumes were finally completed! We were so excited to finally see them on.
At 6am we left the gold coast, picked up the others from brissy and continued or road trip to Noosa. 3hours later we arrived and began the hair and makeup.
Once done we took off to a local beach where we attracted quite a crowd!
Getting smashed my the rising tides waves, while the sun set (and the temperature dropped), the flash died and so did our energy, the teamed pulled it together and Bambi captured the Magic shot.
A long trek up the hill back to the car, and an even longer drive home, 18 hours later the day was finally complete. So proud of the team and the end result made it all worth it!
Good luck in the competition photography by Bambi, hope you come home with the winning award!
